Add Multiple Database Connections

I need to be able to submit data to two different access db tables in InfoPath. I already based my form off of the one table, and would like to add another one as a separate data connection. How can I do so? There doesn't seem to be an option for a database in the data connection wizard when selecting a new submit connection. There is the option to select a database as a receive connection though.

Populate Repeating Table based on Multiple Selection List box

Hi,

I have a form with a multiple selection list box based on a secondary data source.

A user may check one or more items in that list box. I want to build a repeating table that populates the rows based on what is checked, and within each row, the user may specify other things about the row.

I attached an example to demonstrate what I am looking for.

For example, if I select Apple, only the Apple row is populated, and the user can further select a radio button.

If I select Apple and Lemon, those respective 2 rows are populated. Problem is that when I select the radio button, it automatically makes all the radio buttons the same selection.(I can't have one large one small)

I am new to InfoPath and I'm not sure it's because I'm doing something wrong or InfoPath doesn't handle this kind of functionality.

What are my other options? I'm open to recommendations.

InfoPath File Overwrite-Creating New File

Good Afternoon, I have a InfoPath 2013 Form Customers submit requesting supplies. When submitted a Nintex Workflow send the current items xml file to an email address the customer put in their submitted form. When they click the link they see an "InfoPath" Approval Screen. However when they select Yes of No Button under "Do you approve this request" a new record in the SharePoint List is created rather than updating the current record. The file name is concat(userid,now()) upon submission and allow overwrite if form exists is yes I have a status field that is set to pending approval upon submission. I have tried several rules on the "YES" and "NO" buttons but I just cant see to get this correct. I am sure it is something small that I am just overlooking. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to fix this for my office on top of my day to day non IT or infopath jobs.

sum preceding nodes in repeating sections

Hello,
I'm using Shiraz Cupala's method to repeat table headers of a repeating table across multiple pages - and it works great.

However, I also want to add a field displaying the amount carried over from the preceeding page. Placing the field at the appropriat position on every page isn't a problem but I can't get the "sum()" expression right.

My Node-Tree looks like this:

MyFields

RepSecGroup

RepSec

PBreak
ColumnHead
Date
Occasion
Amount
CarryOver Amount

I want my "carry over"(called "sum") field to sum up the values from all "Amount"-Nodes in the preceding sections and I don't know how to point my sum-command to that node-set.

My guess was: sum(../preceding-sibling::my:RepSec/my:Amount) with .. going to parent node, then to the preceding sibling nodes of that and from there into the actual node I want within each sibling node. But that isn't working.

Is there a good source for learning how to "navigate" XPath? MSDN seems to only have an overview of some possible functions to be used in InfoPath expressions

Calculating Two Different "Due Dates" depending on "Last Completed"

Hello All...Newbie here with a question. I have taken a new job and inherited InfoPath awesomeness. We have a training InfoPath form that has the following: Area Type of Training Last Completed Due Date We have roughly 20 locations. All but 1 location has a CPR Training of 2 years, while the 1 location has a 3 year requirement (which just changed). The current value is addDays(CPR Completed, 730) That adds 2 years to every entry. Question(s): Can we make it to where Location A & B = a 2 year due date for CPR and Location C = a 3 year due date for CPR with in the current value listed above? If not, is there a way to make the CPR Due Date editable for all locations that still automatically calculates 2 years and we manually change Location C's 3 years without causing any issues? I noticed there is a button you can select "Refresh value when formula is recalculated". But it looks like that doesn't help with my issue. Thank you for your time Scott

Setting Date value to Datetime picker at runtime In Infopath Form

I have a date time picker to which i need to set custom date at runtime. I know that if i make datatype as Text of datetime picker there is no issue setting the date at runtime but due to comparision with other datetime picker strictly i have to keep datatype as Date.

When i try to set date of DateTime picker in Infopath form using C# code it gives me XSD validation error which is very true. Googled but no answer. Do let me know if question satisfied or need more info.

URL location to the document library

This document library was either renamed or deleted, or network problems are preventing the file from being saved. if this problem persists, contact your administrator.

i published many versions, but never had this problem, i am using infopath 2007, client based form, sharepoint 2010 site. any suggestions can help.

New Infopath form fields missing from SharePoint Workflow

I just added two new fields to an existing Infopath form and Published it to SharePoint. Then I tried to update the workflow where I tried to access the new fields that I created, but I could not find them in the lookup CurrentItem: The fields were the name of an Admin and the email address of the Admin, which is not used in the online form directly, but required for the workflow. I remember reading somewhere that I have to manually push all the fields to the SharePoint, as the Publishing only pushes fields that are used in the online version. Can someone help me with this. Thank you.

Show InfoPath form as full screen

I am trying to create a simple sign in/sign out list (SharePoint Online) and InfoPath form. I am unable to get the form to show in full screen. It seems the team site I created is inheriting the template that shows the left navigation pane and I am unable to disable it. How can I show the form in full screen view ?

Count if > 0 of field in Repeating Table

Hi All, Haven't engaged with Infopath in a long time and have been faced with an issue on an old form but for the life of me, I am struggling to recall my skills in Infopath ! I have a repeating table and a textbox which does account per repeated section. The issue we have is, the first entry in a repeated section counts as 1 even if the entire section is blank, this is generating incorrect stats. I want to be able to update the string to count only if if a field is not blank. Example Current: count(Customer) Want it to be count(customer) > 0 Can anyone steer me into how I can do this? I've tried to find it on this forum and through Google but having no luck, would greatly appreciate any guidance.

Repeating Table Lookup Only Queries First Row for Secondary Data Lookup

So I am a newbie at Infopath, so my skill level is base level compared to some of the postings I have seen here you guys are wizards so I will explain as best I can. I have a billing sheet that is grouped by a Date field broken down into repeating tables for Personnel, Equipment, Services, Materials, Subcontractors, and Additional Fees. So far as the the repeating tables for everything except Personnel, the rules I have applied function just fine. It is when I attempt some mental gymnastics in the Personnel group that stuff goes sideways. Personnel rates are not mathematical calculated values, they are looked up from an external SharePoint list based on the Position field AND RateTier fields. For the most part it functions fine if you select the Rate Tier pertinent to the billing sheet and then choose the Position values from the drop down. It's when you attempt to change the RateTier value that it grabs the first row in the Personnel grouping and duplicates the value for the other Position rows. It will change if you adjust the Positions after setting the RateTier again, but I want it to simply update the values for the rates without having to do this extra step. I have been beating my head against the wall trying to figure this out since it's really the last piece to the puzzle that I need to figure out. Is there a trick to getting it to query for each row? Do I need to set the Position field a level above the rates?

Submit form data to secondary data source which is also my main data source

Hello Everyone, I'm new to Infopath and this forum has been of great help recently! I'm building a Sharepoint list form and have trouble with Submit data. My SP list is one flat list with Project and Phase details where project name, contacts etc repeats where as the phase and deliverables are unique. So far I'm able to achieve the following - Connect to the same SP list as secondary and load project names into Drop down - 1st repeating table shows Project name, contact etc and I hid the repeating rows with formatting rule - 2nd repeating table shows project phases and deliverables and I filter the project data with another formatting rule which only works with secondary data source - On drop down change, I set the fields values from secondary source - I can't find a way to filter the main datasource - I tried setting field values before submitting the data from secondary fields to main with a button but it didn't work. The form retains the entry but nothing gets saved in the list I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I'm open to make design changes. My requirement is just the users should be able to update multiple project deliverables in repeating table. Thanks a lot!

Help with Formula for Today's date and a set time (07:30:00)

I am rebuilding some old Sharepoint Designer forms with InfoPath. The forms support a sharepoint list that we use in the pharmacy for recording the prescription orders received from the hospital wards (in New Zealand). Each morning the staff arrive and there will be a heap of prescriptions received overnight and staff need to enter them in the list with a date and time received of today's date and a specific time. The field is defaulted to Now() and i have a button (javescript) on the old form that the staff simply click and it populates today's date and the time of 07:30.

I've created the form and added some buttons but have become stuck on the formula that i require. I have seen various posts on this forum related to this but none that cover this specific issue. The secondary challenge is that InfoPath creates the date time control formats as two fields - one with the date (date picker) and the second with the time (text). Existing posts that describe a formula for a button to complete the date (eg add 7 days) put the same value in both fields but that then fails the validation step.

I can;t post images but when i open the form the two fields correctly display now() with the date in the first field and the time in the second field. I have a button for reseting the date and time to now() and that works properly - date in one field and time in the other. My second button is labelled 'overnight' and has the following code to the set the field value:

concat(number(substring(now(), 9, 2)), "/", number(substring(now(), 6, 2)), "/", number(substring(now(), 1, 4)), " 7:30:00")

I know my code isn;t right - hence this post, but when i hit the button it pops the same value in both fields (29/07/2022 7:30:00) whereas i just need the specified time of 07:30:00 in the second field. Any ideas?

Querying data using a data connection

I'm trying to troubleshoot a control in an infopath from that seems it once query'd data from a data connection (to Oracle). It should work like this.... There is a PO# text box where someone can enter in a PO# and is should query a supplier name within another text box once that number is entered in. I can't seem to get it to query after "running these actions". 1.) Query data connection 2.) Set fields value to "supplier name" text box. This rule is setup within the PO# textbox. Does this sound right?

Users Creating New Documents

Hey All, I am brand new to infopath and I have been tasked with figuring out why sometimes a user can create a new infopath document without having infopath on their device and why those same users need infopath to create new documents. Specifically, all appropriate users are able to create/submit Document A without having infopath on their computer. Those same users are unable to creat/submit Document B without infopath. Does anyone have any advice/documentation they can point me to that might help? Let me know if I need to specify more, this is literally day 1 for me. Thanks!

How to locate a notification sent by SPSAdmin via infoPath

Hello, I have been trying to brake down an infopath form we use to see how notifications are sent out once an approver from a certain dept. approves. I have checked all workflows that exists for this form and for the life of me I am not able to match what is being sent out by this form! Its looks to be a notification sent once a button is clicked to approve the form. I downloaded VS to also see if there was anyway to see if possible code is handling this but no luck (if this can even be seen). Please help! Thanks!

Populate user name field from people picker field

I need to capture the user name to another field when users select from people picker. The people picker field actually shows user name but saves the field to the SharePoint list as email address, which I also need.

Copy repeating table to another table

I've read forums about this topic and realize qRules might help me but my question is theory for now. I am not sure how I want to approach the problem which is:

I have a travel form with several views; two are almost identical, the Estimated Costs page (before travel) and the Actual Costs page (after travel). Initially I want all the values from the original (estimated costs) repeating table containing estimated costs by day/row to appear on page load of Actual Expenses page but I also want the ability to change the values on Actual Expenses and not have them reflect back to Estimated Expenses page. I have tried creating a secondary repeating table and setting default values from those in original table but only the first row of data appears.

If I can copy original repeating table to secondary repeating table, will editing done later in the secondary table, filter back to original repeating table? I don't want it to. What is the best way to handle my problem?

InfoPath Form: Query info from a DB

Hello! I have an infopath form that needs to query countries from an Oracle DB. I made the web connection using the 'Database MS SQL Server only' option in the wizard and selected what needs to be pulled from the DB but it seems to only work in preview mode. When I open the form in the browser, I get a msg saying that ' An error occurred querying a data source'. I noticed when I go in to edit the data connection it states "The selected DB connection saves passwords in a plain text file. Because plain text files are unencrypted and because the DB connection is available to anyone using your InfoPath form, this action is not recommended." Is that a problem? I also have the "Automatically retrieve data when form is opened" selected (check box at end of wizard), but it only allows the form to work in Preview mode (countries display) and not the browser (countries don't display). Could that be an issue as well? One more thing... when I do leave the "Automatically retrieve data when form is opened" selected, it prompts the same message for existing forms but when I uncheck the box and republish it, the existing forms and the original template used no longer prompts with the message "An error occurred querying a data source". Not sure what I'm doing wrong... help?

Data inside the comment field is updated even after saving

Hi everyone. I have a form that has a field of type Drop-Down, a field of type TextBox that is inside a group to make comments and a checkbox that enables and disables the Drop-Down and the TextBox. The comments field is to be able to capture the Drop-Down data when the SAVE button of the form is pressed and save it within the group (textbox) so that it works as a kind of minute of the item. The detail that I have is when I enter the item and the Drop-Down at the time of changing the value or index, it also changes it in the TextBox of comments, when it should not do it since the data should not update it after saving it. Any idea how to do so that when the Drop-Down changes the selection, it does not change the data of the comment group? Thank you in advance. Regards.

Repeating Table to look up values from preceeding table

Hi, I am relatively new to infopath. I am trying to make a form for shiftwise Maintenance status message for our company. What I am trying to do is, if i select Morning Shift in the first table, and after i update all the required values, when i click insert item, the next table should automatically return Afternoon Shift. Then after that when i select insert item, then next table should automatically return Night Shift. In a similar way, when i select Current Shift as ‘1’ and total Shifts as 7 in the first table and then insert item, the next table should automatically update current Shift as ‘2’ whereas total shifts will remain same. Is it possible

I have been using InfoPath 2013 to create a list form. I need one help in SharePoint InfoPath auto populating people picker. My requirement: • I need to pull the people picker names into the field “Name” based on User selection in multi-selection list box "Company Code" (checkbox ticked). Created a data connection named – "ABC" as secondary data. • Both the columns are there in secondary data source. I have applied the rule in multi- select box for populating the people picker fields using the secondary connection. • The people picker field auto populates correctly with correct user name as per the data connection. But only one name is shown at the time of selection in multi-box. I need to show all the names whatever is being selected by the in "Company code" field checkbox (one by one). Please refer the screenshot for your easy reference. Kindly help out.

Set a field value IF/OR Based on two fields

I want to concat a few fields together to maintain a unique Title for sharepoint list items. However due to URL length restrictions I need to cut down the size of the title. In order to do that I want to identify two fields (FieldA and FieldB) to use. FIELDA will never not be empty. It is a required field. If FIELDA is not empty and FIELDB is empty then concat FIELDA. OR If FIELDA is not empty and FIELDB is not empty then concat FIELDB. Here is my current concat formula: concat(substring-before(Registration Cut-Off Date, "T"), " ", Office, " ", FIELDA, " ", FIELDB) Now I did figure out a way to do it using action rules and having a "helper field". But is there a way to do this using xpath all in the same formula/field?
