Here is a related blog post that may help you. http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/p/25491/88493.aspx#88493. Essentially what you'll need to do is have an action on your drop down to set the value of the field in your main data source to the value of the field from your secondary data source with a filter. This filter will be where the dropdown value in your main data source is equal to the value that the dropdown in populated from in your secondary data source.

Hope this helps!

Bre

SharePoint List / Set a field's value

Hello Guys, I'm new here and also new using the InfoPath.

I'd like some help to auto populate some fields using a drop down answer based on a SharePoint list.

I have a SharePoint list named Cost_Center with the Cost Center number, his owner, the approver and the description. I created a form where I'd like to enter with the name of the owner and the others field shows up automatically.

Steps:::

1. [With the form layout completed, I created a data conection to receive the Sharepoint List.]
2. [at the dropdown box, I configured to gec choices from the external data source.]
3 [at the same dropdown box, I create a rule with the condition "dropdown is not blank", Action, set a field's value to the second field.. at the value field, I really don't know how I should do it.]

could you help me on that?

Thanks,
