Part of the form includes a multi select listbox connected to another list where requirements are defined. I have concatenated the list box value source (in sharepoint calculated column) so that the list displays that field (system | requirement) and inserts into the project proposal list, just the requirement value. All this works fine. What I am trying to do is on the submit action (if the proposal disposition drop down selection has been changed to approved), is collect the ID's from the selected items in the multi select listbox so I can update another field in the list where those values come from, with a marker (perhaps the request ID I created) That way these requirements are now marked / connected (at least by list column reference) to the proposal. Then the requirements will no longer be able to be selected as they are part of an approved project. I just can't see how to update the sharepoint list that feeds the multi select list box based on the selections made on the form.

Process: User fill out basic info for the proposal. Mutli select listbox shows all requirements part of another list. User picks requirements, fills out remaining info and submits project proposal for review. Next, the PMO comes in and reviews the proposal. If he/she approves the project to proceed, the submit action, will loop through the selections made in the multi select list box to determine which values are checked and then inserts a corresponding (related to each record selected) value into the corresponding requirements table with the request title.

Hope this makes sense. I have thought about this in a million different ways, but I do not know how to one catalog the items selected and directly correlate them by ID back to their list so a column in the corresponding record gets updated when the project disposition is set to approved.

I see a lot about how on can catalog the items selected in the list, but then how do I do an update to the SP list (in requirements list update "field1" where requirement ID = multi select listbox checked items ID's.) I don't use or display the ID, but is is always checked by default anyway when building the data source in infopath.

Should be easy, but not seeing it.
