Having received the sample made it understand how to create the rule.

Just wonderful!

Re: InfoPath 2010 - How to create a pop up box after a selection

Hi lindaKer,

I would suggest adding calculated value control from the Control Pane, click the fx button to insert a formula, and use this formula below:

concat("You have selected ", Dropdown, ". Please ensure you are happy with your selection before moving to the next step")

Highlight Dropdown, click the button Insert a Field or Group, then select the drop down list intended. The Dropdown field will contain the value selected, therefore it would change everytime you select a different item. To hide this box if there's nothing selected, click the Manage Rules from the ribbon, select the Calculated Value control, and add a new Formatting rule. Set the condition to Dropdown is blank. Then check the box that says Hide this control.

I'm attaching a sample for your reference. Hope this helps.

InfoPath 2010 - How to create a pop up box after a selection

Hi All,

I am trying to create a form and need some assistance with applying rules.

Here is my scenario:

I have created a drop down list of items, and based on the selection that the user picks I would like to have a description field appear.

Eg.

Drop Down List:

1 Cups

2 Plates

3 Cutlery

When the user picks drop down 1 Cups, then a description will appear : "You have selected Cups. Please ensure you are happy with your selection before moving to the next step"

This is just a made up scenario but I hope it makes clear sense of what I am trying to achieve.

I am a new user of InfoPath so if you could reply in simple terms I would be much appreciated.

Thanks
