I've tried to see if I can use REST but from what looked from your reply to be an ideal solution now looks impossible as I seem unable to use the listdata service.

[I get an error "Could not load type ‘System.Data.Services.Providers.IDataServiceUpdateProvider’ from
assembly ‘System.Data.Services, Version=3.5.0.0, ...") which I think means that we haven't got an ADO.Net Data Services Update installed (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=2343) which supports the listdata.svc functionality]

Sadly our SharePoint provisioning team is unwilling to support anything that is not SharePoint "out-of-the-box" and as they have installed it - they have taken this as far in the past as to try to prevent the use of forms developed with InfoPath (this underlies the reference to managed code above)!

Can I take it from your response though that there is no way to do anything with queryfields other than exact matches - no patterns, wild cards etc.?

Thanks again for your help.

Kind regards, Stefan

Re: Query Secondary Data (Sharepoint List) to return records/rows which match a condition like contains or in

Hi Stefan,

I would use the SharePoint 2010 REST Web services to get at this. REST will support contains and SharePoint provides all information available to InfoPath via REST. Microsoft's Channel 9 training center has some videos that Hilary Stoupa did that talk about how to configure your InfoPath form to query REST data. We've also added this to our "Qdabra" YouTube channel.

Take a look at those and ping back if you can't get it working.

Cheers,

Query Secondary Data (Sharepoint List) to return records/rows which match a condition like contains or in

Hi,

For better or worse, I have a SharePoint 2010 List that contains records of all the issues of a set of documents.

I know I can display, in a repeating table, a list of the issues that match a particular document reference by setting the document reference in the queryFields for the secondary data source to a particular document reference and then querying the secondary data source, and I can further filter the results by setting other queryFields (such as published state).

The question I've been grappling with is, is there any way to return a list of all the issues that correspond to a set of document references using the same basic mechanism (or at least one that doesn't require managed code)?

Ideally I'd like my list of document references to use in the query to come from another SharePoint list. The intended end result being to present the "current" issues associated with the given subset of documents for further examination if required.

Any help or pointers appreciated.

Kind regards, Stefan
