If so, the only way to open the form is through the browser. We call this a SharePoint list form. It's not InfoPath even though InfoPath Designer is used to customize it.

If you create the form from InfoPath as a SharePoint list form, it's basically the same. It will only open in the browser but of course, you can preview in the Designer. If this is what you mean by "open it in InfoPath" then it's likely because the drop-down list data connection hasn't been converted into a UDC file.

That's my guess! :)

Display external source fields in browser mode

I have created an InfoPath 2010 form that includes a drop-down list based on an external data source (a sharepoint list). From that choice, several other fields are populated. That is all working fine.

When I submit the form, the fields are all saved to a SharePoint List. That also works fine.

My problem is after I submit the form, and open it in the browser, all the external source fields are blank. If I open it in InfoPath, it is fine.

How can I get the fields to display in browser mode?

Thank you.
