Just use an ODATA Web service call instead. SharePoint 2010 supports REST and REST supports ODATA so you should be able to figure it out. Benefits abound. We have several videos showing how to use REST and ODATA, and it's all out-of-the-box.

If you are using SharePoing 2007, you can sort the list by manually modifying the view's XSL file (File->Publish->Export Source Files, open the View.XSL in notepad and search for the dropdown0. This is relatively easy but if you need help, please let us know. Another option for main data source is to just use qRules Sort command. No code required, but you will need to inject the form with qRules and add a rule to sort the dropdown.

Good luck!

Sorting lists in ascending order in InfoPath forms (SharePoint Lists)

Hi,

I have created a form within InfoPath which contains several SharePoint lists. This has now been published onto SharePoint and is working as required. However recently one of the users has contacted me to say is there any way that the options in these lists can be in alphebetic order.

I then went into the sharepoint list set it to ascending order however this is not implemented in the list on the InfoPath form.

Is there any way I could do this.

Thank you

Kully
