We ended up getting it to work by converting all connections to UDCX and posting the data connections to Cenral Admin. We THINK that worked. Thanks for all the feedback!

Re: GetUserProfileByName - Opens in Client but not in Web Based Form

Hi claydevin, I had a very similar issue, almost exactly the same, and I found the solution at this link: http://gordonduthie.net/2011/01/26/sharepoint-2010-claims-based-security-infopath-data-connections-and-getuserprofilebyname/.

It appears that it's a claims based authentication issue for browser based forms using SOAP web services. All the steps are in the thread, but bottom line is a two step process. Convert your data connection to GetUserProfileByName to a UDCX connection, then associate it with a Secure Server target application on SharePoint. We're using a service account for the login credentials, making sure the service account has sufficient permissions. This should satisfy any security concerns.

Hope this helps.

Re: GetUserProfileByName - Opens in Client but not in Web Based Form

Thanks for that ULSIEWER, what a big help. We converted everything to data connection strings. Odd thing is that Get Common Manager errors out and Get UserProfile Service doesnt error, but doesnt populate.
