I have found them poorly implemented, however. So, I&#39;d make sure your logic to create an ID is sound - and make sure it only runs when there is no ID present - so that existing XML don&#39;t end up getting different IDs than they started with. Since you aren&#39;t really including any info on your rule logic, I can&#39;t really help more than that.</p>
<p>The same is true with your conditional formatting - sometimes I&#39;ve found in browser the username is returned all lower case from the userName() function - if that&#39;s what you are using - you may want to put some of the fields you are using for your rules on a debug view of your form and just check it out in the browser, see if the values are what you expect.</p>

Webform number of issues

Hi all

Have a lengthy web form with multiple sections. Section 1 is the initial stage of the form and can be completed by those who have permission to actually see the form location on SharePoint.
Once that part is completed, they submit the form and a new ID for it is created - the ID is a concat of some static text, numerical value (preceeding zeros) and then the ID+1
this works but seems hit and miss as to what number the id is, in one form it was 3 (-ECO-00003) then in another form it was 6, edit an existing form and sometimes it changes the id to 4, or something else, seems the rules just don&#39;t seem to work well.

Second to this. At the base of the initial section is the approval part. Before the remainder of the form can be completed the form needs to be approved.

To do this I have a drop down list - Approved by, a check box and an assigned to drop down list.
Each list has the same names in (rather than using the authenticate with SP lookup thing)

I thought, perhaps I needed on the initial form to change the manager name to the group/user field, this would then validate the selected user with our SP. Then using this field I would be able to determine if the person that opens the form to approve it does not match this field then the approval function would be dissabled, but it seems to now work either, the approval section is perm dissabled, no matter who logs in and opens the form.

I hope this makes some sense (though I doubt it) any help would be great
