From what I've learned so far (I think) the attachment control is for use when submitting the form to a SharePoint Library - so that's why it won't work when trying to route via email.

Here's another thing...I try doing the same thing but without the attachment control...fill out form, File, Save & Send, Send Form - the email opens with the form in the body of the email, press the "paperclip" attachment button, attach a document and send the email. When the recipient opens the email they cannot see the attachment! It's like it's not there. UNTIL they press "forward" like they're going to forward the form/email on - then the attachment shows in the attachment tool bar under the subject! I just don't get it! Here's the kicker - I contacted our IS department (I am the only one in the entire company that knows anything about InfoPath - no one else hasn't even really heard of it) and find out that when I email the form to her, she can see the attachment! Which tells me it must be some sort of filter or admin rights setting - that she can see it and a couple of us testing the form cannot.

Very frustrating - I just want to be able to email a form with attachments without having to use SharePoint in the case.

Thank you,
Jeanne

Re: Exception Occurred Error Message

Hi Jeanne,

So, just to be clear - you have an email in Outlook with an InfoPath form attached, and this InfoPath form itself contains attachments into it? I don't think there will be any problems forwarding the email. Does it happen only when InfoPath form is attached?

Re: Exception Occurred Error Message

Thank you for your reply. The error message displays when trying to forward an email containing an InfoPath form with attachments attached to it.

Do you know of a way to send an InfoPath form and additional "Word"documents (attachments) via email (Outlook) without using SharePoint?

But think about when does the error happens? Does it show when clicking a button? Does it throw this error when submiting a form? You might want to check your rules and data connections and make sure they are working correctly.

Exception Occurred Error Message

Hello,

I get an "Exception Occurred" dialog box when trying to forward an InfoPath form that contains an attachment.
