I am encountering the same problem. But my requirement is quite different. In my page I want to have a Infopath webpart for edit form not new form. Kindly follow my blog for clear requirement.

I will try that today. I think you will find my story to be fairly typical. I am a IT Director by trade. Have not written code in awhile. Used SharePoint 2007 for issue logs and doc management. Worked great. I am in a new environment where there are many needs since there have been no new technology brought in for several years.I was given three internal applications to replace and after research I find SharePoint again - my old friend but on steroids. I buy some books and begin architecture. ( I know.. I know)

The first replace was simple - your basic searchable issue log. Very little effort. I found my way around quiet easily. Users are happy.

I have been working on a PoC for the next application, a trasportation scheduling ap which pulls data from an AS400, workflow to notify all concerned and integrated calendar. (As you can see there is no education mentioned. There is a small SP community here which I have already exceeded their level of knowledge. There are NO SP vendors in state.) Once again I used a list with customization via InfoPath. It's very sexy except for the printing of the delivery ticket which the driver must take and have customers sign. I have it it working but am getting a SP icon and breadcrumbs on the top of the form. Not a showstopper... not idea but livable. This is in test.

Next, again a form but needs to be listed individually on a central screen (like a list), needs to be able to attach documents to that record and print cleanly since they are contracts and workflow is to be used. So back to the internet (Thanks Al Gore). If it werent for these forums I would really be sunk. So with all of that said my point is that I am learning as I go and uncertain as to which is the best route to take for each application. So far I have been very pleased with the capability of both SharePoint and InfoPath. If only you could print the form when using InfoPath most of my headaches would be solved. I have a request for a CRM solution, expense reimbursement with workflow and several other things. I am having a blast using the creative side of my brain again but am not sure I am using the best/correct features of SP for each request.

Corrie Sigler

Re: SharePoint Doc Library - Edit and Display NOT using my InfoPath template

Hi Corrie,

Was there a reason why you didn't just use a Form Library? InfoPath will automatically associate the template to the new button if you publish it as a form library. You may be able to get it to work in a Document Library if you publish as a content type and enable the doc library for content types. After you've done that, go to the Library Settings and choose the option to add content types and select the InfoPath form. This may work but we haven't tested. If it doesn't, please just use a Form Library. If memory servces, Form Libraries are based on Document Libraries with special functionality for InfoPath forms (promoted properties, relink, etc.).

Best of luck.

SharePoint Doc Library - Edit and Display NOT using my InfoPath template

I have a SP 2010 site. I created a doc library and have a custom InfoPath 2010 form that is used as the doc template. Looks and works great, BUT when I edit a document the template is not being used. The EditForm.aspx is used. How do I force SharePoint to use my InfoPath template for New, Edit and Display?

Many thanks!
Corrie
