Sometimes for me, by the time I type out the problem, I see the solution. :)

Re: Filter Data in 2nd'y data source repeating table

Oh Hilary - Im real sorry about this, I'm kinda fixing this myself LOL

Here's what I think I can do - add another text box and concat the savedName and "," then filter based on this new textbox and all works fine!!

Maybe it was me having a Monday moment!

Thanks Hilary - as always,

Mike x

Re: Filter Data in 2nd'y data source repeating table

Hilary,

I just added a , (comma) in the SaveName box, after the text and I think it works. Its the comma that's causing the issue.

now need a best way dealing with this? do I add a comma to every saved form name or can I add it in the repeating table filter?

Mike

Re: Filter Data in 2nd'y data source repeating table

Oh my!! Sorry Hilary, It maybe the way I've perhaps wrote it. Let me try again.

I'm using the "does not contain" because the field I'm looking at [System] field, may contain other text values. So Im trying to say if the system field "does not contain" whats wrote in the [SaveName] field. then hide the row.

Hopefully the attached picture might help.

It looks to me as if because the value in SaveName starts with a 2, the returned filter shows everything starting with a 2 or contains a 2?

Eh!! I don't know.

thanks

Mike

Re: Filter Data in 2nd'y data source repeating table

Oh man I am having the worst time understanding this! I don't understand why you want to use does not contain instead of equals. Could you attach a screenshot under the options tab that shows what you want to have happen? I've got a bad case of the Mondays. ;)

Filter Data in 2nd'y data source repeating table

Hi,

It's been awhile - thought I was doing well with InfoPath.. until I came across this?

I have a secondary data connection pulling concatenated data using a repeating table. On this repeating table, I've set a rule that looks at a field from the repeating table called [system] and sets the rule that "does not contain" whats wrote in the field [SavedName] which is on the form and hide.

In other words, I only want to see data where the repeating table records contain the same in the [SavedName] field box. (Also might add, the data collected in the [system] field is concatenated data from another form. this data may look something like this: CGC 20, CGC 21, CGC 22, CGC 23, CGC 24, CGC 25,)

Data that gets entered into the [SavedName] on the form looks something like this: CGC 2

The problem is - If I try and filter out on CGC 2 it also finds all the other values: CGC 20, CGC 21, CGC 22, CGC 23, CGC 24, CGC 25 because they have a 2 in them?

Hope anybody understands and thanks for any help or guidance.

Mike
