With Access, it's going to be difficult to do this on your own. Why not just get the free trial of our Database Accelerator which has built-in support for Audit History. You can use free MSDE or SQL-EXPRESS as your backend DB. I can show you ademo of how to do what you want in less than 45 minutes. The Beginner licence is only $395. Much cheaper than it will take for you to do it yourself. Let me know if you're interested and I can give you a quick demo.

Take care,

I have a form created where the user queries an office and all the employees from that office are populated( in a repating table). I would like to add a button(update button) next to each row, so that when ever person selects a record toupdate, a new row will be insert below(I prefer the information to be prepopulated with the information of the record above) so this way, the person can make the changes to the NEW RECORD and saved the information back to the database.

In basic terms, what I want to do is track historical data of employees. I do not want to query and then update the record(s) and lose the historical data. In a perfect world, my ideal solution would be to have a form that when queried, the data is display as read only and when the user inserts a new row, this row is open to add new information.

Or can edited records be submitted as new data/new row?

Thanks for your help!
