This was done based on the error message suggestions and several threads on the issue.

I've changed the form options to "Automatically determine security level (recommended)" and republished to SharePoint and DBXL. The form appears to be working as it was before and I am able to open it from the General tab in DBXL.

But, the option to save the open form is disabled. I'm curious as to why does it require admin approval in SharePoint, i.e. what's the scenario and how the the form in DBXL is integrated with SharePoint. Is there a SharePoint mapping?

If you can't open the form from DAT, that's not a good sign. I would suggest we take a step back and address the bigger picture (SharePoint integration) before moving on to using the Excel to XML tool.

Excel to InfoPath Tool, Unable to open form from DAAT in order to create template

I am working from the Qdabra's Excel to InfoPath Tool User Guide last updated on 4/26/2012 11:01 AM. On page 9, Scenario B: Output Directly to DBXL, Step 4 states "Open the original form from DAT, and click File > Save to generate a new, blank form. Save it in the “source” folder with the name template.xml, and close InfoPath."

When I attempt to open my form from DAAT I get the error "InfoPath cannot open a new form. The form template is trying to access files and settings on your computer. InfoPath cannot grant access to these files and settings because the form template is not fully trusted. For a form to run with full trust, it must be installed or digitally signed with a certificate."

This is an administrator approved web form published to SharePoint.

How else can I go about generating the template.xml document?
