The Form template (XTP) you attached is not downloading for some reason, but have you had a chance to look at our history XTPs? If one of these works for your purpose, then it might save you the trouble of designing a new XTP.

If using DBXL, use this one:

http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/other_subjects/entry90835.aspx

If there's no DBXL involved, try these:

http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/templateparts/entry60775.aspx

http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/templateparts/entry60774.aspx

Hopefully these help save you some time.

Comment Block Example does not insert rows on button click correctly

Hilary (May this year) helped me develop a history tracking section of a form with her example mentioned in subject line. I would like to re-use this feature in other forms. I have created a template part to apply this technique in one section (vs. multiple sections) but it is not behaving exactly as before.

On my attached example, the expected behavior is: Notes field to copy a new row into the Copy of Notes field every time the Copy Comments button is clicked whether the Optional section Insert link is clicked or not.

The problem: The copied values are not displaying in 2nd repeating table until the repeating table Insert link is clicked* which means the Optional Section Insert link must be clicked first and if it isn't, nothing displays.

It appears as if the Insert link of 2nd repeating table is copying/inserting rather than the button click and its odd that the 2nd repeating table must have the Insert link displayed while in former example this was not the case for it to copy. It was all automatic (or on button click) before. I think the problem may be with the SubmitFlag and/or ActiveRow field rules.

Can someone look at this an tell me what is wrong? I have not created a Template Part before....

It's an InfoPath 2007 form.

Edit: The purpose of this functionality is to track changes (like Word does). A user may open a form many times to make changes to the textbox field Notes. Each time they re-submit the form to SharePoint, the changes are copied and inserted into the 2nd repeating table, thus a list of all former changes are retained. The user may view the history (list of changes) by clicking the Insert (or View History of changes) link in the Optional Section.
