Check box choosing which fields to display

Hello everyone, thank you for a great site.

I'm new to infopath and would like some advice. I'm trying to design a system whereby tutors can view feedback from students. The data is in an access database and I'm trying to create a front end for the admin staff at various sites to use.

I'd like a situation similar to the following:

    Tutor Name:   Smith

    View score one? []

    View score two? []

    View score three? [X]

    etc

Clicking Query from this example would generate

    Tutor Smith

    Score three is 9

Obviously selecting scores one and two would display the scores on the output.

Firstly, is this possible, and if so, how would I go about doing it?

Appreciate any help you could give me

    John

This is maybe not the slickest way to do it, but a start.

Create the three "view score x" as "rules and custom code" buttons (or buttons next to the "view score"-text).

For each button, define a rule to query your data source for the score, and print it in a textbox.

The structure would be /the score one button queries data source one/ prints it in textbox 1 (the datafield of source one)/ score two button queries data source 2/ prints it in textbox 2/ etc...

Hope this helps you to start.

    Thanks for your suggestion ollewessel,

Do you know of a way to prevent the output text field from displaying (ie vanishing) if the check box is empty?

You mean "as long as the checkbox is not selected there will be no textbox shown"?

In that case, right-click the item you want to hide, choose "conditional formatting" and add the rule you want.

    Hello,

I've been trying various rules to solve this problem but I can't seem to make it work.

I'd really appreciate it if you could give me a sample, or point me in the direction of a walkthrough for my problem.

    Thanks

If you can give an exact explanation what you want to do it is easier to help, I am not quite sure what is not working for you. The rule I would use is something like "if checkbox1 is equal to FALSE, hide textbox1".
