    Submit Forms using Data Connection

    Hi,

I have developed an order form which is passed between a requestor and a approver. The flow is: requestor submits an order form and send to approver via email. If reject, the approver will return the form to requestor for further input. So, this passing of the form can go on for one or more time until the approver is satisfied with the data and approve it.

I used a button (called Submit) to control the submit of form, using data connection, with fixed email address. When a requestor presses this button, an email is sent out to the designated approver.

Then, I have another button for approver (called "ReturnToSender"). If s/he rejects the form, s/he can add more names to the email To and cc holders. I have a button controlling this. I used js underneath this button so that approver has the flexibility to add more email recipients.

My problem is: when the 2nd or 3rd round of pressing this "Submit" button, InfoPath asked me more than once if I need to send out the form.

Is there anyone know why? How can I fix this problem?

    Hello
When you say "InfoPath asked me more than once if I need to send out the form." What do you mean?

Re: Submit Forms using Data Connection

I have a <Submit> button using data connection. After I pressed this button, the mail was sent out with attachment. This part worked fine.
Then, a InfoPath window popped up, asking me if I want to send the form. The label of the window is "Microsoft Office InfoPath". The question asked is "Do you want to submit" then form name. If I responded with Yes, then, I will received the 2nd email. Otherwise, I only receive 1 email from the first execution of the <Submit> button.
So, my question is why did InfoPath asked me after I have executed my "submit" through data connection.

    Hi MeWTwoWomen,
I'm a bit confused. The <Submit> button should also show the popup. The e-mail popup is a security thing for all e-mail sent from InfoPath. You may have two data connections tied to your custom submit button, but I need more information. Are you using a custom button or the default submit button? Do you have rules on these buttons?

    Hi, Patrick,
My <Submit> button is a custom button. You are right that there is a pop up. I clicked the <Send> button in the pop up and a email is sent. Then, I got an InfoPath window asking if I need to send the mail. I suspect that is the default submit.
I do have rules under this custom submit button, depending on user selection, I send mail to different parties. e.g. Rules: if N.Am. sales region, mail send to AAA, if Asia Pacific, send to BBB..etc.
So, there are a total of 4 submits via data connection under this custom submit button.

    Hi Mewtwowomen,
Do you have the "stop executing rules" checkbox enabled for your rules? Maybe you are firing multiple rules which is causing the multiple submits. Just an idea.

    You are right, Patrick.
I thought the condition check is sufficient. But I was wrong. Once I "stop executing rules", the duplicate InfoPath window is gone.
Thank you for your help and patience.
