In the copy of the form you sent me, you had a rule with no conditions to hide the text field. Remove that.

did that, still no text field showing.

so just to confirm, is there any way to hide the rows that the text fields are in on the form?

No - not really. You can set the row to auto height in the table options - but if you have borders, those will still show. You could set the row to auto height and remove the horizontal borders, then add a border on the top and bottom of your sections you are hiding. If you set the margins / padding on the section to 0 that might get you close to the desired effect.
