Why do my buttons not appear when an item is opened from a SharePoint list ?

Hi, hope someone can help me here and this may be a SharePoint question rather than InfoPath. My form is submitting to a SharePoint online list and is web enabled only. The submission is working as expected but when I view the list and double click the form is presented without any buttons, I assume this is because the standard is view only but I would of thought the buttons such as close form would still appear. It is only when you edit an item that you get to see the buttons.

Unfortunately, that's just the way the list forms work, if I recall. In view mode, buttons don't show.

Thanks for responding Hilary , looks like when you double click on a item in a list it uses "displayifs.aspx" rather than "editifs.aspx" which is used when you click edit. Would great if I can overwrite "displayifs.aspx" with "editifs.aspx" or somehow change the list so the standard action is edit rather than view. Any idea where these files live on a office365 SharePoint site.

As with the CSS question, this sort of modification won't be possible in an Office 365 environment.

Hilary, thanks for taking the time to respond. Looks like I need to switch back to a XML forms library rather than a list to overcome this.
