Hi. I am trying to make a form. The user should type in local time in one field and ZULU or GMC time will populate in a non editable field next to it. The local time is Japan standard time. +9. There is no daylight savings time. For example, if I type in 0900, the Zulu Time field will be 0000Z. We basically take the local time that was entered and minus 9 to populate zulu time. I hope that this is not too confusing. How would I go about doing this?

If you are just subtracting 9 hours, you could use the addSeconds function - use a negative 32400 as the second argument. Right click the link to the attached file, save locally. Right click the saved file and select Design to open in design mode - I've put this calculation in a calculated value control on this sample.

What would the formula be if there was no date. Only time.

So the data type for your field is time only?

Good morning from Japan, Hilary. That's correct. The date is assumed since it's entered previously in the document.

It is so weird. The second I add a time control to my form, the original formula stops working correctly (only subtracts two hours instead of nine) and when I do the same calc on the time field, same thing happens. Are you using this form in the browser or in InfoPath Filler? I'm wondering if it will behave better in the browser....

Well, in the browser, the same formula seems to work ok with a time field.... but I suppose if it is just a time, that is going to be confusing for the user? I mean - if you have selected today for the date, and 8 am for the time, then the time -9 hours would be the day before. Is your end goal to display just time? Or date time?
