I'm starting to have to muck about with SQL Reporting services. SharePoint is just one of the data sources, others are SQL.

I have many SharePoint (2010) lists. These are manually being imported into SQL using the Intergration Services from Codeplex. Is this the best, easiest, quickest way? Are there alternatives?

In addition, this is a manual process.  To see changes in the SQL I have to keep re-running the Intergration Services module.

How can I export/view SharePoint list data in SQL and have the data be constantly or as near as automatically up to date?

Why are you importing the data to SQL instead of reporting directly on the lists? As of SSRS 2008 R2, at least, there is a SharePoint List Connection Type: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee633650.aspx

At any rate, you can schedule SSIS packages to run at set times with SQL Server Agent - it may be you want to run yours every 10 mins or so (of course, there are performance implications here you'll want to be aware of)

 They have eyes but do not see.

 We're using SQL since we have to "marry" up several datasets at once

1. SharePoint List

2. SQL DB

Then report on both i.e. is X in SharePoint List and SQL DB or Not.

Certainly from what I can gather in SSRS there is no way to join two datasets together.

It is true, you can't join data sets in SSRS - there is a Lookup function in 2008 R2 and up - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee210531.aspx
