Export Infopath XML to Excel with DBXL

I have 300 xml forms that have not been shredded...  I need to export the data in those forms to excel so I can clean it up and then upload the clean data a new infopath form.  Is there an easy way to do this?

Ideally, I wouldn't have to do any database mapping a direct export to excel would be great.  Another option, I think, would be to have DBXL automatically create the database mappings for me and then I'd export to excel.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Hi,

I think the ideal solution is to troubleshoot the shredding failure and fix it. With every shredding failure there's likely an error getting written to the server's Event Viewer log and this might provide further details on the failure.

Unfortunately, DBXL does not have a way of automatically creating the database mappings, so it would take some research to find out why the shredding is failing and make the necessary adjustments (whether those are in the form, in the database tables or in the mapping from DBXL).

To report on data without going through the database, you could use Report Builder. The tool is located here: http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/other_subjects/entry65836.aspx and this tutorial's first 4 pages cover the scenario step by step: http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/dbxl/entry87052.aspx

    Hope this helps!

Thanks Ernesto!  I'll give the Report Builder a try.

A little more background...the 300 forms have over 150 fields.  I think I used the wrong term 'shredded'...i'm new to Qdabra.  The forms have not been imported into DBXL...they are just residing in a sharepoint library.  I need to dump the data to excel in the most efficient/quickest way possible and then upload to a new document I've created with Qdabra/DBXL.

     Thanks for the help.

Ok, then Report Builder won't work. Report Builder requires the forms to already exist in DBXL.

You could use the DBXL Standalone Edition to download those files from the remote SharePoint form library.  Here's a training lab on that scenario:

Otherwise, you could simply import the forms into DBXL using Document Deployer: http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/document_deployer/entry46890.aspx

Hopefully one of these works for you. Good luck!
