People Picker issue with allow multiples

I have a list in SharePoint that includes the People Picker to select users from a specific SharePoint group.

The default form was customized so it is now using InfoPath 2010.

when entering a single user in the picker, the form saves properly.

If we change the people picker control to allow multiples, and add more than one person, it throws the follwoing error.

    The form cannot be submitted.
The user does not exist or is not unique.

An entry has been added to the Windows event log of the server.
    Log ID:5567

    Correlation ID:026e0140-cb14-4b2e-95be-947ca2a3f86f

I have looked through all the event logs on all servers in my farm ( WFE's and appliation servers) and find no entry for ID 5567

I have also used ULSViewer to look through all the ULS logs on all my servers  ( WFE's and appliation servers) and find no entry with that correlation ID, so I dont know if it is really logging this or not.

I have this behavior on at least two different lists.

We are running SharePoint 2010 Enterprise patched up to Aug 2011 CU with SP1.

    Thanks for any assistance.

From your post, it sounds like you are using the people picker in a customized SharePoint list scenario.  And it also sounds like you modified the people picker control in the InfoPath form to allow multiples.

Have you updated the column in SharePoint that the people picker is bound to allow multiples as well? If I remember correctly, updating the properties of the people picker control in the InfoPath form will not be pushed to SharePoint.  This has to be done manually or you will run into errors such as what you are seeing.

Re: People Picker issue with allow multiples

It was an issue of not updating it in the List settings first.

Even after "refreshing" the IP form, I still had to update the control in the IP form manually to set the 'allow multiple' setting.

But it is saving the data now.

     Thank you!

Thx guys - this in combination with changing my username format from:

    lastname, first name

     to:

     domain\user_name

    worked for me.

Hello Anson, can you please explain how to update the column in Sharepoint?
