MS SQL Field Limits and Hosting Options?

I have a form used to collect info in reguards to Incident Reports. It is for a security company and everytime we respond to an incident there is a report to follow. We had previously been using a paper system but have recently moved to using InfoPath connected to an Access Database. Currently Access limits me to 255 characters in a field and InfoPath will not accept the Memo field option of Access. I need fields that will allow way more than 255 characters. Will a MS SQL database allow text fields to be more than 255? If so how many characters? If not...what are some other options? Also, if MS SQL is the way I need to go....what are my options as far as hosting? Are there any recommended hosting companies? What will I need to look for in a hositng company to suit my needs with InfoPath?

    Hi NC1787,

Sorry for the delay in responding to your post.

Qdabra offers InfoPath-SQL hosting - see FormsBoard dot com for details.

Qdabra also offers a Web service that will store your XML as a blob in SQL (in addition to mapping it out to your database for reporting and downstream, line-of-business consumers). Since it stores it as an XML blob, it supports 100% fidelity for rich XML content - large fields, images, rich text, etc. The trial is free and the cost is low (and based on server not client access). It's easy to get it up and running, but you'll want to recreate your form using an XML schema and not a schema derived from the Access Database (which will intrinsically limit you).
