DBXL2.4 Install failure: SharePoint with internet-accessible host name

[posting question by Mr. Oka, Wistech to share...] Install works well with SharePoint such as http://servername; however constantly fails with SharePoint of which address is e.g. http://spv3.net/ Is there any specific setting or consideration necessary to install DBXL on such environment, or any restriction on installing DBXL 2.4 with SharePoint assigned a host name? Environment: OS:Windows 2008 R2 (datacenter edition) SQL: SQL 2008 R2 (Enterprise) SharePoint: SharePoint Foundation 2010

The first thing to check is that the SharePoint site is browsable using that url on the server.  If you get repeated credentials, you may need to configure the BackConnectionHostnames or DisableLoopbackCheck value.

The Microsoft KB article describes the steps:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896861

The IP resolved by pinging the hostheader should be a local ip address or the loopback adapter (127.0.0.1).  If it resolves to a load balancer, it will be treated as a machine hop and fail the connection during installation.

    Hello,

Sorry for late to reply.  I set up DisableloopbackCheck value, and this time I could install DBXL v 2.4 on SharePoint (Foundation) with internet accessible host name.

    Thank you for the help.
