Field with Document Number (Count of some type for sharepoint?)

     Hello all,

I'm a bit new to InfoPath, and I was trying to work out a counter for each document that is created.  I'm uploading documents to a sharepoint server and the goal is to have the first user submitted file have a field that auto populates itself, or has a default value of "100".  After doc #100 has been submitted, the next time a user begins to fill out a form, that field will now have a value of "101", then after submitted "102" and so on, pretty much just a reference number to the document.

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas about how to do this, or something I might be overlooking with a similar function in sharepoint, it would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you!

    Hi jesse,

in all share point lists and doc libraries, there is a field called ID that can be used to uniquely identify each record. you can just create a secondary data connection and fetch the ID of the form and display it
