    Setting Up Data Connection

My goal is to use a browser enabled InfoPath form on SharePoint that will store data in a SQL Database. I have used the Qdabra Administration Tool to map the fields on my form to the Database.

How do I go about publishing the InfoPath form?

Hi there, and thanks for trying Qdabra's DBXL v2.3!

These are the steps you'll need to follow once you have designed your InfoPath form template:

    1. Create a new document type.

    2. Add SQL mapping.

    3. Add SharePoint mapping.

    4. Activate the form library to ensure forms open in the browser.

It sounds like you've already accomplished #2, which means you've also accomplished #1.

The details for Step #3 depend on your form and your environment(s). Are you using a form with code? Are SharePoint and DBXL on different machines? Maybe your form is simple and has no code.

    Re: Setting Up Data Connection

I managed to get my Form to write to my SQL Database using DBXL. Now how do I go about placing the browser enabled form on SharePoint? I have tried publishing the Form using InfoPath but when I attempt to submit the form I get an error.

I am not using a form with code, just a basic form. Sharepoint and DBXL are on the same machine.

    Re: Setting Up Data Connection

I am getting an error code when attempting to save to SharePoint.

"S0002: Caught exception ensuring SharePoint form library http://portal/Test. The Web application at http://portal/Test could not be found."

Although Qdabra and SharePoint are on the same server they are on different sites in IIS. SharePoint is on port 80 and Qdabra is on port 32459.

     Would this be an issue?

    Re: Setting Up Data Connection

Yes, this is likely an issue. When using DBXL and SharePoint jointly, we recommend installing DBXL on the same site that hosts the
main SharePoint site (typically on port 80). If DBXL and SharePoint reside on separate machines you will need to select the Web Service option when creating a SharePoint mapping in DAT. You will also need to configure SSO or Kerberos correctly in order to allow DBXL and SharePoint to communicate. Finally, if you’re going to use IPFS, having it on a different port creates a “cross-domain” data adapter access which makes configuration more difficult.
