Getting the display name of a drop down selection

    Hi,

I have a form with a drop down and a text box. The drop down pulls values from another SharePoint List.

My requirement is that when the user selects a value in the drop down, the text box should be populated with the display name of the selection. Right now, the ID of the selection is getting populated.

I have set the rule on the dropdown as 'Set a field’s value...'

I also tried setting the ID of the drop down the same as it's display name, but it gives a red box runtime error saying that 'only numbers expected' I guess this is because it won't accept text as the ID.

    Can you please help me?

     Hi Enigma,

See if this work, SharePoint only passes the ID of a lookup, not the value.

    1. Add a data connection to the other SharePoint list (where Display name is located)

    2. Change the textbox to a calculated field (where you will output the Display name)

    3. Right click on the calculated field, control properties, then fx

    4.  In the formula, -> set a fields' value -> select the new data connection you created earlier -> choose the field for the display name -> filter by ID.

    5. Filter by ID of the corresponding column (the drop down)

    cheers!
