From opening in Infopath, not Sharepoint window

    Hello,

This is my first attempt at uploading a form to a SharePoint Library and everything looks great, except for the fact that when I click the "Add Document" button, the form opens in InfoPath, not as a form in SharePoint for users to fill out. Since the users who will be filling this form out are out of the country and I do not know if they have InfoPath on their computers it is necessary for this form to open in SharePoint. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Also, when I fill out the form in InfoPath and hit the submit button it is not transferring the data to the designated SharePoint library.

Hi - you should be able to change the library settings so that the form opens in the browser, if it is a browser compatible form. You need to go to the library settings, then advanced settings.

Is your form's submit connection to the same library you published to? That won't automagically correct itself if you have published to a different library than the submit connection was set up to, for example...

Ok great, thank you that worked, I changed the settings and am now able to open it in the browser, but I am still not able to see the form information in sharepoint when the form is submitted. I redid the submittal connection to make sure it was to the correct library and tried again and it didn't work. Any other ideas I can try?

You can attach your form to a reply (under options) if you want me to take a look. In general - as long as your submit connection is to the same library as you are published to, and your button is set to actually submit the form, if you aren't getting an error, there isn't a whole bunch that can go wrong there....

I've tried a couple of other things but I'm still not sure what the problem is, my file is attached. Thanks again for your help.

It looks right - your form is published to REIMBFORMS. Your submit data connection named Main Submit 2 is pointed to REIMBFORMS. The button is set to an action of Submit. The Submit Options submit to Main Submit 2.

When you submit the form in the browser, what happens? Does the form close?

Are there no XML in REIMBFORMS?

Yes when I submit or press the button I created it closes and nothing appears on the SharePoint site. The only thing I have tried that works is clicking on "Save" instead of submit... it then requires me to give the new file a name and then it appears on SharePoint.

It looks like you might be using "now()" for the name - but that it is entered in the field for the name in the data connection rather than in the formula editor. I suppose you could try modifying that...

I tried entering the "now()" to the formula editor and that didn't work. I also tried changing it to = the entry in the "FOLIO" field since they will all be different but I get the same problem. I can get the information into SharePoint by using the save/close instead but that doesn't explain the issue with the submit button. Let me know if there is anything else that comes to mind for me to try, for now I'll use the save/close. Thanks again for all your help.

When you say you tried setting the form name to be the folio field in the form and it didn't work - what does "didn't work" mean here? Did you get an error? Can you post a screenshot under the Options tab in a reply?

And attached is how I tried renaming it to the FOLIO field.

Re: From opening in Infopath, not Sharepoint window

That looks right - is the folio name unique? In your earlier error, my guess is that since you haven't selected the checkbox to allow overwrite if file exists and you are using something not unique for the name (having just typed in "now()" as a literal value instead of using the formula editor) the file can't overwrite. At least - that is what the error says....

Yes the FOLIO is unique, regardless clicking the submit button doesn't upload the information to sharepoint so for now i'll just use the save/close for each form entry. Thanks again for all your help!
