Using xdExtension in rules in InfoPath 2013

I am trying to move forms from InfoPath 2007 to 2013. We have a form that has a C# code behind for which I use xdExtension in field rules. However, when I run the form to fill it out, I get an error: "InfoPath cannot open the following view: View 1 The XSL transform for the View XSL failed. Unspecified error" I have verified that the xdExtension namespace is in both the View.xsl and the manifest.xsf files. I have also tried targeting InfoPath 2007. If I don't include any code-behind, the error states that the function does not exist in namespace extension, as expected. But as soon as I add a code-behind (without changing ANY code) and hit Preview, I get the unspecified error. Thanks.
