Autopopulate fields based on other field value

Hello, this is my first post on this forum, i found allot of useful information so far but unable to find an answer to my case (noob question) I have a sharepoint list that contains set of columns such as Client name, Client address, Client phone number and so on, i am trying to create a form using infopath with a data connection to this list, where i should be able to enter the clients phone number in a textbox and then the rest of the fields (client name, client address..... ) get auto filled from the SP list! how can i achieve that? thanks in advance! :)

    Several things come to mind

If you're checking against a telephone number, make sure they are all in the same format in your sp list and that you are entering them on your form in the same format.

    i.e. 0123456789 is not the same as 0123 456 789 etc.

Next to your telephone field on your form have a button i.e. (search for client information)

    This button has several rules.

    1. Query your data connection to your list
    2. Set Fields

    This is an action rule.

Set field on your form i.e. Address 1
Value from data connection i.e Address 1 with the following filter

Telephone Number on your secondary data source (data fields) is equal to telephone number on your main source (form)

On the second rule you'll need to set each field as above i.e. one for more address fields etc.

If rules etc aren't working as you expect, drag your secondary data source onto a dummy view, so that you can see what the form can see, then you should be able to work it out from there.

First of all thanks for your help, I really appreciate you taking the time to look into my question.

I tried to do as you said and its not working when I use the phone number, it doesn't auto populate, but when i use the ID column as a filter instead of the phone number column (default sharepoint column) it works just fine! I do not know how to drag my secondary data source into a dummy view!

there is another thing am trying to do that i do not know how, and i do not know if i should post it in a new thread or just ask here (new to the forum) so am gonna post it here and if its against the forum rules am sorry and will post it in a new thread.

I have two person picker controls with a button, my goal is to use the first field to pick an employee and use the button to auto populate the second control with the first control direct manager, the direct manager is stored in sharepoint Mysites, that is retrieved from AD. is there a way to do so?

again thank you very much in advance!
