    Selecting Parent Node Field In Nested Sections

    I have 2 lists in SharePoint, and am trying to nest the repeating sections like this:

    Items (Repeating Section)

    • ID
    • Title
    • Tasks (Repeating Section)
      • ID
      • Title
      • Item ID

    I am trying to make it so only the tasks which match the Items ID are displayed, but I am having trouble accessing the ID of the parent Item within the Tasks repeating section. I have tried a bunch of different ways to select the parent ID but havent had any luck.

    The things I've tried are:

    • current()/../d:ID
    • parent::*/d:ID
    • parent::*/@ID
    • current()/parent::*/@ID
    • current()/parent::*/d:ID

    How can I select the parent node's ID field?

    Thanks

    Hi rwdial,

    Your conditional rule should look similar to this:

    At the repeating table, add a conditinal hide rule which hides the section if the ID (select child ID) is not equal to the other ID (select parent ID). This conditional rule should be enough for you to hide the row. Hope this helps.

    Hi Don,

    Thanks for your response, but that wasn't quite what I am looking for - that only works when the repeating tables parent is a single node (and not a repeating section like I am trying to implement). Doing it the way you have suggested only ever compares to the ID of the first item in the outer list.

    Hi Ryan,

     I may have had something different in mind. Is it possible for you to attach a copy or a sample of your form so I may have a clearer idea of what isn't working for you? Thanks.
