InfoPath 2007. How do I display a numeric value in scientific (E) notation within a form

    Hi,

I have a client who wishes that numbers they input within an InfoPath 2007 form be displayed on that form in E Notation. (e.g as 3.83E+12 instead of 3,830,000,000,000).  I find that I can enter a value in a whole number field in E notation, but as soon as I tab out, it reverts to numeric display.

Can I apply a format that will keep the E notation?

     Any thoughts?

    Wilfred

    Hi Wilfred, yup no problem.

What you need to do is change the Data Type of the field to Decimal, then change the format to 'None (displal XML value)'

You can just type 3.83E12 too :)

Just be aware that you will probably ony be able to get E-9 accuracy due to the limitations of the decimal data type!

    Cheers
