    Linking between Two Lists

    Hi All,

Am new to this Blog and as well for Sharpoint.

I would like to create a travel request form that has several views related by an approval process. but the question is: Can we have the option of a Profile virew that will to enforce the user to fill his own profile whenever he access the form for the first time?.

And when he access again the portal, the system has to check if his profile is completed  than will allow him to move to the Submit Request view.

Plus note that some filed from the Profile such as passport number , visa validity will be displayed in the others view, so all the saved data should be received and copied to it.

     Please Advice,

    Regards

Well - I usually just add a field to the form's data source named Status or some such - it doesn't have to display in the view. It can be blank by default and then in your submit rules, you can set it to "Submitted". Then when the form is reopened, you can switch views if Status = Submitted.

You can bind as many controls as you like to your main data source fields - so it is simply a matter of dragging the fields into the different view, or even just copying and pasting the controls from one view to another. Create a test form and experiment a bit. Here's an Office Online article that may also help you: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/infopath-help/introduction-to-data-sources-HA001230326.aspx#BM2

Thanks a lot for your reply, but the Managment amended the request.

Are able to link two different list in one view? i.e i created Profile list, where the user has to fill it once and update it if needed.

And teh second list is called travel request list, where the user will open frequently in order to submit several requests. in this form we need to include some fields from the first list: such as firts name, passport number etc..

    Any advice?

    Regards,

    Eliana
