Greetings,
I am attempting to create an InfoPath web-based form where users can come, fill the form and submit it. One field of this form is a search where a user types in text, clicks search and chooses the correct finding.
I have gotten most of it already done except for the search piece. Here is my current setup.
I have two lists on SharePoint, one is a custom list and the other an external list being pulled from a SQL database. The external list is a BDC using the Wildcard filter type.
At first I attempted to simply add an external list item to the original custom list and work with the SharePoint list add/edit view. It worked well except for the convoluted process of a user, having to click the 'Select External items' option, a separate window populates, do the search and then pick the item.
I'm trying to create a cleaner, easier form using InfoPath.
I have created an InfoPath form using the custom list and then added the external list as a data connection.
I want to search the external list, find and select what I am looking for, fill the rest of the form manually and then submit it.
Has anyone attempted this before?
Currently, my external BDC with the wildcard filter doesn't give results when I do a search on infopath.
I created another external BDC (without the wildcard filter) but when I do a search, what I type in has to be exact otherwise I don't get any results.
In short, I'd like to use the external bDC with wildcard filter, search-find-choose.
Thanks in advance for your help.
