I keep getting this error on my form when i try to set up an autonumbering formula:

 max(@ID) + 1

I have used this many times but this time the @ symbol is causing an issue...

any help is appreciated...

max(@-->xdXDocument:GetDOM<--("RetrieveIDs")/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/d:SharePointListItem_RW/d:ID) + 1

 Did you type in the "@"? It is part of the XPath for attributes. Just use the field picker to pick your ID field. The formula should look like:

max(WhateverFieldYouPicked) + 1

BTW, the max()+1 technique is not a best practice.
