InfoPath Dev

Hello Everybody,

I have developed a form using infopath client (2007)  and it is published to a content type. This content type is used in a SharePoint form library. There are multiple users who needs to access the form. The filled out form gets internally checked out when the first user opens it. All the other users get a read only copy of the filled out form. Is there a way, the form can say who has opened it first? 

I really appreciate any help/suggestions.

Why not use a form load rule?

If 'field X is blank (i.e) on first opening set field to Current User.

Do I need to submit the form before it is loaded (opened) so that other users will know who has opened the form first( basically who has checked it out)?
