INfoPath - User Permissions & Shared Discussion

     Hi

I'm new the InfoPath, however I have been scanning the net for the 'how-to' on this over last 2 days so thought I'd try here. I am looking to do 2 things for an InfoPath form that i will publish to SharePoint

    1) Permit access to only selected users to amend  the options of a drop-down list

    2) Integrate the means of a shared discussion functionality within the InfoPath form. The goal of this is to allow users to make post comments between each-other, enabling an email alert to those 'watching' the particular form.

    AM I asking too much????

    Thanks in Advance

     Rob,

Point 1. If you want people to amend a drop down list I suggest you put the choices into a SharePoint list and use that as your data source. It's much easier to control access and you don't have to worry about version control and installing InfoPath designer onto X number of machines.

If you meant only  certain people could see and select from that drop down list, you'll need put the drop down list into a section and control who can view it via rules etc.

Point 2 you can do, yet it's is tricky - and I don' think worth the hassle. There are often too many variables which need to be taken into account.  Since you have SP, why not use a discussion board list?

     Thank You Wilkies0106aw

What I meant by question 1 was how to implement functionality that allows only certain users to amend options of drop-down. It needs to be visible to all. I;m pretty new to SP so if you have some spare mins to describe how to implement this it would be greatly appreciated.

    Rob
