storing odc file (data connection library)

    hi.

i want to open an infopath  form on browser, i have set its properties so it can be opened on the browser and it does,

but drop down list box on the form can't load data from SQL server (defined on an odc file).

i guess it's because the odc file is on my computer and the sharepoint server is on another computer.

so i want to store the odc  file on the sharepoint server.

on the MOSS i have created Data Connection library, and i have uploaded the odc file, set its status to approved

but on the infopath form, when i tried to create new data connection, i chose "using odc file stored in the MOSS"

the dialog box shows the data connection library but no odc file found.(this site does not contain connection file with appropriate setting)

am i doing the right thing? and can anyone help me so the drop down list box on the browser looks up the data from SQL.

    thanks in advance

Aaaaand 6 years later I'll go ahead and answer. :P Just open up your data connections list and choose the data connection that is using your ODC file. Click on the button that says "Convert to File". You will be prompted for a URL which is the location where the new UDCX file will be stored. All the needed data from your ODC file will be transferred into the UDCX and you will be able to connect to the database by using the file housed in SharePoint. Look up converting a data connection to a file if you are at all confused. Just figured this out today!

Shrout1 - you rock. Thanks for adding an answer to this old question - now when someone else searches and finds the question, there will be answer as well! :)
