Rich Text Boxes: XML Outputs <div> tags instead of <p> tags for paragraph tags

    Hi there,

I have published my InfoPath form to Sharepoint.

For example, one field contains a rich text box. Once the contents are saved and opened up as xml output,  <div> tags show up instead of paragraph tags.

Basically, I want the Rich Text box to output <p> tags in the xml not <div> tags. Is this possible?

    Thanks.

    Hey Lola 2013,

Why do you want it to do that?  I'd like to respond in a way that is going to help but I need to know more first. Can you provide some context?

    Pwetty pwease?

     Hi Patrick,

Okay, much appreciated for your time in advance! I'll do my best...

We follow a standard HTML structure in our custom code so let's say a user adds a second paragraph in the rich text field in a form...Then once the form is in an xml format this translates the paragraph to <div> tags. This will effect our custom code and won't work -- obviously. We render paragraph tags as <p> not <div>s. It may seem obvious to search and replace, but if there is an alternative solution -  that would be awesome!

    Does this help clarify?

    Hi Lola,

Thank you for providing the clarification. This helps more.

But, I am still skeptical. What is your custom code doing? Most InfoPath forms do not need custom code.

     Hi again!

Thank you for your follow-up. We do understand InfoPath doesn't need custom code, but we are using the xml generated by the InfoPath form somewhere else.
The custom code reads the xml and HTML and renders the page. In the custom code we have <p> tags and we don't want to modify the code at this point.
Does that help a bit more? No worries if it still sounds confusing!

    Lola :)

Why not just create an XSLT?
