Saving form attachement as PDF not XML to email.

    Hi,

I currently have an accident form which once submitted is attached as an attachment to an email.

Question 1 - the form attachment is saved as a a XML file. Is there any way that this can be attached as a PDF as this needs to be sent through to a third party company.

Question 2 - Currently the form is attached to the email however the email body still contains the full form - is there a way of editing this so that it just says something like please see form attached?

    Thank you

    Hi Kully,

    1. Easiest thing to do here is to have the user print the form as PDF using the file->export option and then attach it to an email manually.
You can automate this using a custom workflow (we have one that creates HTML), Word Automation on SharePoint server also outputs PDF, and there are third party tools like Muhimbi (which have limitations).
    2. To remove it from the view, you can restrict permissions.
See the attached image showing some text that Microsoft includes on the email data connection wizard which will give you something to try or search on.

    Good luck

    Hi Patrick,

Thank you for your response. I will look into the SharePoint workflow idea to see if i can get this to work.

In regards to restricting the permission how would i do that within InfoPath?

    Thank you

You can replace item permissions using a SharePoint workflow impersonation step. That's easiest way to do it.
