I am creating an InfoPath form to assist me in taking notes during testimony. (I am an Immigration Judge and need to make notes to myself to summarize testimony, exhibits, etc.). I created an optional section for Witnesses. (In immigration cases typically only the alien testifies, so this is an optional section in case there are other witnesses). I went in and set the Insert and Remove text. However, when I hover my mouse near the top left of the group to get the optional section pop-up, besides the Insert/Remove ones I named "Insert Another Witness" and "Remove All Witnesses" is also now includes choices for "Remove osWitnessesGroup" and "Insert rsWitnesses". This shouldn't be happening! If I click on the "Remove os WitnessesGroup" it does do what one would expect (even though it shouldn't be there). However, if I click on "Insert rsWitnesses" I get the error message header: "InfoPath cannot insert the section or row because of an error." The error message body is: "A "chooseFragment" element with a "innerFragment" attribute in the XSF failed to match any data during the operation" I'm attaching some screen shots that should make it clearer. This is the only section that this is happening too. Because I have moved things around during development I think InfoPath didn't clean up something properly and is causing this error. I know how to split out the files, but not enough to know where the offending error is or what would be safe to delete to correct this. Thanks! Stuart

    Hi Stuart,

Yeah, sounds like the InfoPath designer didn't clean up correctly.

I would create a new view and copy the old view into it (using Ctrl-A/Ctrl-C, switch view and then Ctrl-V). If that solves your problem, you can set the new view as default and delete the old view.

If not, you may want to spelunk the manifest.xsf. Go to file->publish->export source files. Create a folder and export the files to it. Close InfoPath. Navigate to folder. Right click manifest.xsf and choose edit with notepad. Search for the offending fragment. See if you can figure it out. Be very careful deleting sections since if you mess up the designer won't even open the form template. When you're done, save out. Now, right click the manifest.xsf and choose design. Save the template as an XSN.
