    Having subject line in email contain information from text fields

    I am new to using infopath but have created a form for our technicians to use. Information I want to become the subject has to be text (job number, address, etc..) I am able to get them to populate one at a time but I am unable to have more than one of the fields populate in the subject line. I am doing this by going to: - Right click submit button - button properties - submit options - manage - modify At the subject line I select the formula button. I then insert field or group, I Can do one field/group but I am unable to get it to populate multiple. If this has been gone over will you please show me the way to find it, I Was unable to locate it when searching. thank you, Tim

    To make the Subject line custom, you can create a Data Connection --> Submit --> Email Message.

    In the Subject line, change the value to be "concat("Generic Text", Field, "generic text", Field) <-- This is just an example on how you can have plain text and multiple fields in the Subject Line. All of the fields in the Data Connection are able to populate with Fields instead of static text.

    then on the Button, Add a rule that Submits using a Data Connection and choose that connection you created. You will also have to create a "Main Submit" connection so it knows to update the SharePoint List.

    let me know if you need more clarification.

    Perfect, thank you! I also have one more thing I would like to add. I had an option box with yes or no answer to a question. I would like that if the answer is yes, that be added to the subject, but if the answer is no, it not be added. Is there a way to do this. PS. I got all of the concat things working, all of that is perfect :)

     Yes you can yield the same result using the above description, You just need to account for the value, maybe you add another field. your Yes/No will set a value of "Yes" when the field = "Yes" and set it to blank when the field != "Yes".

    Use the new field in your concat statement

    Kind regards,

    I dont really get how to do this (sorry, im new with this program) What I have so far is this: concat(Address, " || Node#: ", NodeNum, " || Job#: ", JobNum, " || File: ", File) This is a form and I want the address, node, job and file populated in the subject. In the form is a yes/no check box that asks "is this an impairment". If yes, I want it to include the text "IMPAIRMENT", if its no then I want it to be left the way it is currently. Hope this makes sense. sorry for my lack of knowledge here. I just learned of this program and I am finding it VERY usefull (if I can just learn to use it all)

     Jaxkookie's answer is correct and would work. Basically, you would add a rule on the Yes/No field. The Action would be:

    Condition: If answer = "Yes"

    Then set "Impair" value to "Impairment".

    This is setting a brand new text box to that value. Then you add that field into your Subject line. I called this text box "Impair" so I can show the example.

    concat(Impair, Address, || Node#: " ....etc
