Hello all, I have a scenario where I use a People Picker (PP) to select a payee on an expense request form. I should mention I'm using a K2 smart object in conjuction (Look up AD Data) with it.
If you enter in an NT account ID, it works great and is able to retrieve data right away (e.g. if I enter "sterwni", all details are subsequently filled out. Name, email, phone, address, etc)
If you enter part of an account ID or more how a user would enter, just the first part of a last name (or whole name) the PP sits and thinks forever and ever...then times out with an error.
Part of the problem is the claims token it is expecting for on search (e.g. if I enter part of a userID or a full last name, it doesn't have the claims token i:0#.w|)
So to combat this, I use a "Validate user" rule before the "Get payee info" rule which is what is taking the people picker value to querey AD with. My "Validate user" rule is just
AccountID does not contain "i:0#.w|"
Set a fields value (a field that would be overwritten anyway) but then the most important part is not to run any remaining rules.
This stops the PP from just spinning and thinking forever and stops the time out as well. Then it acts as any other PP in SharePoint, it redunderlines what you entered and then you can click on it for a the context list to show with potential matches.
SO the root of my problem is, what I'm doing to fix the timeout issue is actually stopping the PP from actually getting to the next step "Get payee info", so payee info never populates.
Does any one else have any methods for dealing with the time out issue on the PP?
