    Repeat Section option gone

    I’m using InfoPath 2010 and SharePoint 2010.

I have a custom list that I’m creating an InfoPath form for; I just clicked the edit in InfoPath button on the List ribbon in SharePoint.

I can do anything I need to do with the exception of adding a repeating section to the form. The option is not there in the controls box in InfoPath. I thought I needed to edit the data connection to add this functionality but when I click on either data connection the modify button is grayed out. I have Main Connection and Choices connection.

Any ideas how I can enable the repeat section functionality?

    Hi SignalWarrant,

This is a limitation of list forms (and the biggest one). You will want to create a regular InfoPath form (start InfoPath Designer and choose Blank Form) and then map it to the list. Then you will have access to all of the features of InfoPath and you won't be limited by the list form restrictions.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news,

    Patrick,

Thanks for the response even though that limititation makes no common sense whatsoever, I'm sure MS had a good reason for it.

Well - a list form is bound to a SharePoint list and as such is going to be flat - if you look at a SharePoint List and try to add a new column that would have a data structure similar to a repeating table in an InfoPath form - you can't.
