Some rules were not applied - multiple views - multiple submit/data connections

    Hi,

I created a form for a process, and only 2 of the 3 contributors can submit the form.  The scenerio is as follows: Group A accesses the form and from view 1 they click a button to access their view (view 2), they fill in information and click Submit (which is a Rules and Custom Code button). The rules are:

    Rule 1: no condition

    Switch to view: All

Submit using a data connection: Main submit

    Rule 2: AApproval = "Qualified"

Submit using a data connection: Email Group B

After a qualified contractor is submitted a Group B representative receives the email, then accesses the form and from view 1 they click the button to access view 3.  The person would fill in safety data on the contractor, then click submit (rules below):

    Rule 1: no condition

    Switch to view: All

Submit using a data connection: Main submit

    Rule 2: BApproval = "Qualified"

Submit using a data connection: Email Group C

This is where it hangs up... it throws the generic error "Some rules were not applied" or "An error occurred while the form was being submitted" and clicking on more details gives more of the same generic jargon.  I have someone from IT searching for the log files, but I have waited over a week and still no log file.  I have tried simplifying rules (They were much more cumbersome before) and tried to erase all rules, then reapply them one by one.  I have tried everything I can possibly think of.

Interesting note:  I am the only person who can actually submit for Group B.  I am using the browser enabled form just like everyone else, but I am the only one in the group who has InfoPath.  After I qualify a contractor, Group C has no issue with submitting (Theirs always submits to both the main submit and emails Group A and B the results).

Any help would be much appreciated.  I have created a "junk" form with the same concept of 4 views, and 3 groups, and get the same error. I can post that one here if needed.

    Thank you!

Re: Some rules were not applied - multiple views - multiple submit/data connections

In creating my most recent form I was running into this issue because there are certain sections that should only be completed by one group or another. I found that the issue was the way that my rules were built. Even though I had sections hidden or disabled the rules from those sections still applied to every group.

I was able to get around this by using a combination of hiding and disabling controls instead of standard rules. I now have multiple submits, i.e. GroupA Submit, GroupB Submit, GroupC Submit.

part of the submit rules are to populate a hidden field on the form which then unhides that section or hides an alt section before sending to the group. I hope that makes sense.

I found out what was causing the issue, and haven't been back to post the answer till now.

All I had to do was check the permissions in SharePoint - it turns out I had made a simple mistake while giving permissions to each group and gave read only access to Group B.  Since they could access the form, and fill in the fields, it seemed as though the permissions were correct.  This is the first time (and hopefully the last!) that I have made this mistake, but thought it would be helpful for those (like me) that have the "I know I couldn't mess THAT up" syndrome.

Thanks for the advice.  Thankfully it was just an ID10T error ;)

EDIT: Also I never really cared to look into the "junk" form that was having the same issue, so I have no clue if I did the same thing there.
