Hello, I am new at Infopath so bear with me. I am trying to create a form that displays comments on a project. The comments are given by different groups. Let's assume we have 3 groups. Each group will give 5-10 comments. I have the project info on the top. Under it has a table from each group. Under the group heading is each group's comments. I want to send out the form to each group. They will come back with comments and I want to merge them in one form with the project info on top and each group's comments, headed by the group. When I tried to do this, I used a repeating table. I got the merge to come in but they are not listed by different groups. They are just listed in one table. I have attached a sample of the form. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi - what's your data structure look like? Can you attach a sample template that demonstrates the issue?

    What field indicates the group?

So - that's field1 in the sample form. The issue there, I think, is that since that field is not repeating, IP doesn't know what to do with the data on merge. So the field in the merged XML is blank. I think I'd add the "group" field to the repeating table and use some formatting to make the data appear grouped - preceding-sibling condition to not display if the group is the same as the one before. I can try to modify your template later today to show you what I mean if you need a hand with this.

If you can modify my template, that would be great! I understand the formatting, but do not understand how the preceding-sibling relationship would work. I hope this isn't very complicated. I thought simplicity in infopath would be better than merging PDF or merging word documents. I really appreciate your help. Thanks

Wow - I was making that much more complicated than it needs to be. See attached - I made group1 repeating and then set the control to not allow the user to insert / delete - so each form user won't know that group is repeating, but when you merge the forms, they should layout the way you want.

Hey! That worked like a charm. Thank so much. Now the hard part. Getting people to actually fill out the form. Thanks again.
