Is there a way to retrieve a specific computer assigned ID # in infopath 2007, similar to that of retrieving the user name with the userName() function?

If this cannot be done, is there a way that, when the user opens the form, a message box appears with a text box field that they're able to enter text into and submit it to a database? Same question as asked here http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/p/9305/33416.aspx but I cannot use any VSTA code.

You can use Qdabra's DBXL Web service to map the data to a database without code in the form. Go to Qdabra dot com and click on Web services and look at DBXL solution. There's a free trial and it's inexpensive for you, plus we provide great support and have thousands of happy cutomers. :)

To get at the computer ID you will need code. We can write that for you and include it as a new feature of qRules v5.1 with a discount option for you to purchase qRules. qRules contains a boat load of fine features and we'd be happy to extend it for you. Thanks for the info Patrick. I wish I had access to running code with infopath on my computer other than relying on built in funcitons but I'm using a government computer on a managed envrionment that won't allow me to run any kind of program changes, including installing new software, changes, etc unless I had admin rights which I don't. Id have to go through the trouble of getting approval for this software to be put on which won't happen. So I'm trying something else that might seem simplier to have the user manually enter their computer ID. Is there a way to keep contents in one text field after the New Record button is clicked rather then have it cleared away with the other text fields?
