    SubmitToSharePointList question

Hello, I used the SubmitToSharePointList using Hillary's great tutorial and it worked just fine with my SP lists. Now I'm troubled with the question on how to publish my form to any of the 3 lists so it can be started by the user. Users will be using the form from the browser. Before, I just created a submit connection and publish it to the site and it will carry the template with it, but now I don't know what to do. Can you please shine some light on me? Thanks in advance, Gus

    Re: SubmitToSharePointList question

Hi there - I'm glad the tutorial was helpful!

You can publish your form to a form library. In order for it to be browser form, you either:
    1. Need to be a site collection admin - then you can Sandbox the form and publish directly to a library if the Sandbox is enabled on your SharePoint server, OR
    2. Need to admin approve the form - publish and have a SharePoint Admin upload to Central Admin so you can set your library to use the content type.

There is a section in the User Guide in the Appendix called "Using qRules in InfoPath Forms Services" that has a little info - for admin approving, the screenshots are from IP 2007 / ShP 2007, but the general steps are similar. There is also a little info on Sandboxing. The point to remember is a form with qRules is now an InfoPath form with code, so to use it in IPFS (InfoPath Forms Services) it has to be published like any other form with code. Let me know if you need additional info....

    Re: SubmitToSharePointList question

I follow your advice to the letter, however, still having problems: I published the form to the server using the procedure described in the user guide and created the form library. I can open the form from the new library, but when I fill it and hit my Submit button, nothing happens, it doesn't save to my new form library, or populates my 3 different lists. If I do it from the Preview in IP it populates my 3 lists just fine. Can you tell me what I'm missing or doing wrong? Thanks in advance Hillary, you always save my chops! Gus

You are missing postback settings, I'd guess. Right click your submit button, and under the Browser tab, set Postback to Always -  we need the button to send data to the server (from InfoPath Forms Services) so that the qRules commands will execute.

I did, as a matter of fact, I set all fields in the form to always send data to the server.

So, your submit button is set to postback always and the submit is failing? Can you put the QdabraRules Error node on your form so you can see if there are any error messages?

The error I get is: Action: SubmitToSharePointList. Arguments: submit: SPList . Details: Security Exception - please check security requirements for this command.

Oh, interesting. Is the list you are submitting to on the same site as the one you have published the form to? Are you using Office365 for SharePoint?

    Re: SubmitToSharePointList question

They are both in the same site. I am not using Office365. I am creating and publishing the form from my laptop, but I'm doing the central administration part right at the MOSS 2007 server. The only highlight of the whole thing is that I could not activate the form from the GUI (I got a security error even though I was using the system account), I had to do it using stsadm.exe. I feel that I am closer now. Please advise, Gus

    Re: SubmitToSharePointList question

Okay - so you are using SharePoint 2007 & admin approving, not sandboxing.

We have a few additional nodes in the QdabraRules data source that may help us. Try this:

    1. Find the finishedLoading node in the QdabraRules data source & add a rule to it:
    2. The rule condition should be "finishedLoading = true"
    3. The rule should set the QdabraRules data source /QdabraRules/Form/@useWebServices field to true (this makes the form always use web services for SubmitToSharePoint, even if the form is opened in the browser - i.e., it should behave as it does in filler).

Publish again and try in the browser after admin approving. What happens? If it still fails, try the following:

    1. Change the rule above (item 3) to set /QdabraRules/Form/@useBrowserApi to true instead - this forces the form to always use the SharePoint Object model

You can also set /QdabraRules/Form/@extendedErrorMessages to true - that will give us additional info on what might be going wrong.

    Re: SubmitToSharePointList question

I tried your last suggestion first, I enabled the extendedErrorMessages and this is what I get: Action: SubmitToSharePointList. Arguments: submit: SPList . Details: Security Exception - please check security requirements for this command. Extended Details: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Security.SharePointPermission, Microsoft.SharePoint.Security, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' failed. at Qdabra.Tools.RulesLibrary.Commands.SubmitToSharePointList_Browser(XPathNavigator mappingNode, String idXpath, String attachmentXpath, String name, String nameFormat) at Qdabra.Tools.RulesLibrary.Commands.SubmitToSharePointList() at Qdabra.Tools.RulesLibrary.Commands.ExecuteCommand() The action that failed was: LinkDemand The type of the first permission that failed was: Microsoft.SharePoint.Security.SharePointPermission The Zone of the assembly that failed was: MyComputer I hope it makes sense to you. I will try your other suggestion and will let you know. Thanks again for all your help! Gus
