Email submit using xml query

    I have an email-submit data connection. I would like the To: field to be populated by an xml query but i am not sure how configure the value[__=___] formula.

    Field name "ID" = userName() and the xml code is as follows:

    <items>

,<value>[email protected]</value>

,<value>[email protected]</value>

    </items>

    The To: field should be populated with the <value> from the xml file based on the userName() appearing in the ID field. Any suggestions on how to make the connection?

    The To field in an Email data connection cannot be populated via formula/rules (unless you use custom code). You could add a field in your form called my:SendEmailTo, have the Email data connection set up to send email to that field (my:SendEmailTo), and then have form logic (rules) in your form that set the value of my:SendEmailTo before the Email submit happens.

    Hope this helps!

    Would I still be able to populate the SendEmailTo field with the value formula?

    I was able to answer this question for myself. You can populate the To: field in the email submit with a formula. value[name = StandardID] where StandardID is a field populated by formula UserName(), and value and name are retreived from an XML secondary data connection which is stored in the sharepoint library. The SendEmailTo field wasn't necessary after all.
